Way more than you ever wanted to know about me.

I have filled out a bunch of surveys on facebook lately. Rather than bore everyone with lots of posts on here I am going to condense them all in one post. Feel free to skip this post all together. : )

26 Random Things about me
1. I met my husband the first day of 4th grade. My mother asked me when I got home that day if I had made any new friends. I replied that there was a boy who sat next to me that was nice but that I thought that he liked me. (remember that this was back when boys had cooties. LOL) She told me to be nice to him because he could turn out to be my Prince Charming some day. Little did she know. He has been my best friend ever since. It took me another 13 years to figure out that I was in love with him though.

2. I have my dream job. I have wanted to be a Mommy ever since I was a little girl. I loved to play house and I was always the Mommy with a pillow stuffed up my shirt so that I could pretend to be pregnant.

3. I am a terrible housekeeper. I just don't know how to keep on top of the clutter. I would do anything to be able to change this about myself.

4. I love to cook and bake. Unfortunately this 'hobby' has not been good for my waistline.

5. I was pregnant and gave birth 4 times in 5 years. My body has still not recovered.

6. My kids are not great sleepers. The baby still doesn't sleep through the night and on any given night it is not rare for all 3 kids to wake up at different times wanting to come into my bed to snuggle. They got the cuddle gene from Rich, I want my space when I sleep!

7. My sister and I fought terribly all during our childhood. We couldn't even be in the same room at times. Now I consider her my best friend and we talk several times a day.

8. I had a privileged childhood but didn't appreciate it at the time. Thank you Mom and Dad for working so hard to give us so many wonderful memories (even if my sister has NO memory of any of it- LOL).

9. 1995 was the worst year of my life for several reasons but I came out of it a much stronger person.

10. My husband and I have been through more struggles in the past 8 years than many marriages ever have to go though but I could not have made it through without him by my side.

11. I loved being pregnant despite the morning sickness, not sleeping, stretch marks, c-section scar etc. I am really sad that I will never get to experience it again.

12. Call me crazy but I really enjoyed my 2 natural, un-medicated deliveries. It made me feel so powerful, strong and proud of my body. I was crushed to learn that I required c-sections after Kathryn. I am happy to report that the end result of a baby to love is exactly the same thankfully.

13. My husband works harder than any other man that I know to provide for us. He thinks nothing of working 2-3 jobs AND helping out around the house when he is home. I am so lucky.

14. I think that I have finally figured out what I want to do when I 'grow up'. I plan to go back to school when Zack starts school. I want to be a L&D nurse. I would also really like to become a Lactation Consultant and also provide support to Mothers experiencing a stillbirth or loss.

15. Although I spend a lot of time on the computer I am terrible at replying to my emails.

16. I hate talking on the phone unless necessary (except to my sister and Melissa).

17. My friendships with my best friend and my cousin have suffered because of #9, #15 and #16. I will forever be sorry for that.

18. I love to read and I wish that I had more time to spend doing it.

19. I love to travel, I cannot honestly think of one country that I wouldn't want to travel to at least once (as long as it was safe).

20. I am obsessed with getting the mail. I am not really sure why since it is bills 99.99% of the time but I have to go and check it as soon as the mailman comes. I love getting magazine and catalogs.

21. I am so happy to have recently reunited with my girlfriends from high school. I have laughed more with them than I have in a long time.

22. I have a wonderful group of internet friends that I met through our common interest, scrapbooking. My scrapbooking retreats with them are something that I look forward to all year. I spend most of my time laughing, talking and relaxing than I do actually scrapbooking on these trips.

23. My husband and I love to camp. We spend as many summer weekends possible camping with family and friends all over the New England area.

24. I have never ever used a lawn mower or snow blower. I think that I might learn how to cut the grass this year (if the snow ever melts) but then again I have made it this far in life without ever doing it……

25. This year I vow to take better care of myself and work on my friendships.

26. I wasn't going to complete this but I got tagged so many times that I felt guilty not doing it.

Mommy Survey
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME? Yes for 2 years and 2 months before she was born.
3. WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION? I had to show Rich the test right away. I ran out of the bathroom waving it in his face. Gross now that I think about it. With the second one I had a much nicer way to tell him.
5. HOW OLD WERE YOU? I got pregnant one month after turning 27.
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT? We only tried for 3 months but I was already obsessed. I was reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, charting, testing every month etc. I tested 2 days early and it was negative so I went away to Aruba with my mother for a long weekend and forgot all about it. I drank more than my share in rum drinks over those 5 days. On the way to the airport to return home we stopped for Dunkin Donuts ice coffee and the taste of it made me sick to my stomach. that was when it occurred to me that my period was late. I ran out and bought another test as soon as I got home that night. It was positive! We told my parents and then everyone else 2 weeks later.
8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX? No, we loved the surprise. I just knew that she was a girl though.
9. DUE DATE: November 19, 2002
10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS? Yes, all day sickness. I even puked in my office trash can and in my car in rush hour traffic.

12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST? Not being able to get comfortable.
14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING? Nope, I said that it didn't matter but deep down I wanted a girl 1st.
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY? 20 pounds I think? I weigh more now than I did the day that I delivered. UGH.
16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER? Yes thrown by my Aunt and my sister.
17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW? I knew one was coming...not a surprise. The surprise came on my way back home when I ran out of gas on the highway.
18. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY? Just at the very end. I was told to go straight to the hospital because my bloodwork showed that my kidneys and liver were in distress at 39 weeks due to Pre-Eclampsia. I was monitored overnight and induced day 6am. Despite being given the highest amount of Pit. allowed I still managed to deliver her with no pain medication. I had retained placenta that had to be manually removed followed by extensive repair. I could not handle that pain which was much worse than the labor and delivery. The Antheseologist was called and I was given a local. That wasn't enough so I finally had to be put out AFTER delivering the baby. My liver and kidneys continued to shut down after she was born and I was in the hospital for 6 days. I looked and felt like I was run over by a truck for weeks following her birth.
19. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH? Parkland Hospital in Derry, NH

22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH? Rich and my Dr and nurses.
23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-section? Natural with no pain meds
24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN? Nope, and I am very proud of it!

26. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN? November 14th 2002 3:28pm
27. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER? Lauren Elizabeth DeLong.
28. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY? 6 (yikes, where has the time gone???)
