Heading to the Beach

This weekend we are going on our first camping trip of the year. It will be hectic with 3 kids but I cannot wait!

We will be staying just a mile from where these were taken. It isn't quite beach weather just but we will be bundling up to take the kids down at low tide to play on the rocks and study the tide pools.

I can smell the salty air already.

This will actually the first Memorial Day weekend that I have ever spent with my husband. Rich has gone camping with his buddies from high school this weekend every year since they were 17 (you do the math). Several of the guys can't make it this year so Rich decided to stay home with us.

I am happy because Sunday is our 10year anniversary of being together. Memorial Day 1998 Rich had already moved to VA and I was living right outside of Boston. We were the best of friends but nothing more. He flew up to go camping with his friends and then was spending the last night at my apartment to hang out with me and I was to drive him to the airport in the morning. It was that night that he told me that he was in love with me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I realized at that moment that I had the same feelings for him. We stayed up all night planning out our wedding, talking about our babies that we wanted to have and the next 50 years of our lives.

We decided to spend this weekend camping in Gloucester so that we can also visit with my Aunt who lives up there on another beach. It wasn't until later that I realized how fitting it was that we spend our anniversary there since we chose to get married in Gloucester in 2000.
